JUPITOUR 2010
THE HIGHLANDS AND ISLANDS OF SCOTLAND
(A message from Howard and Jacqui Bryan the organisers)
The Jupiter summer tour 2010 will be from Tuesday 1st to Saturday 12th June inclusive
(12 nights)
2010 marks the centenary of the start of series Jowett car production in Bradford, an event that will be celebrated when JCC members descend on the city over the Spring Bank Holiday of 2010.
We plan to mark the occasion too by starting the Jupitour from Wakefield on Tuesday 1 June. Participants of the JCC Rally will be ideally situated to join in. The idea behind this tour is to revisit some of the wonderful places on the West Coast of Scotland to which we have sailed over the past thirty years, except that this time the idea is to reverse the magnificent views!

Poolewe, Westeross, a village on the north west coast of Scotland
The final programme may change as another recce is planned, but readers may like to note the following if they are interested in joining us. Quite a number of those who took part in the 2007 tour to the North of England and the Borders have already indicated that they would like to take part.

Tobermory, Isle of Mull, Inner Hebrides
Dates: 1st to 12th June 2010 (12 nights)
Hotels: 3 or 4 star
Route: Day 1 Carlisle
Day 2 Fort William
Day 3/4 Poolewe
Day 5/6 Isle of Skye
Day 7/8 Isle of Mull
Day 9/10 Loch Melfort
Day 11 Loch Lomond
Day 12 Lake District
Distance: About 1200 miles. We do not intend it to be a “cannonball run”. The daily runs will always allow plenty of time to stop and enjoy the surroundings.
Numbers: Ideally around 15 couples. The hotels in this part of the world seldom have more than 15 rooms and we would prefer to all be able to stay in the same hotel.
Highlights:
v A visit to the island of Iona where many early Scottish kings are buried.
v Some amazing routes on Skye
v Distillery visits and shopping
v The Ardnamurchan Peninsula (most westerly point of Britain)
v The Applecross coast road (definitely one of Britain’s finest)
v Traditional music – piped bands
v Three ferries: Skye/Mallaig – Morven/Mull – Mull/Oban
